NEW DELHI, November 14, 2021---Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Ch Anil Kumar said that ever since the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party came to power, assaults and attacks on Dalits, particularly Dalit girls and women, have been rising, with the culprits roaming free due to official and political patronage.
Ch. Anil Kumar, alongwith DPCC vice president Shri Jai Kishan, Ex MLA, and senior Congress leaders, today participated in a night stay with a Dalit family at Ravidass Basti, Sultanpuri Delhi partaking in tea and dinner with them, under the Jan Sampark Abhiyan, to highlight the injustice and ignoring the interests of Dalits by the AAP and BJP Goverments in Delhi.
The Congress workers marched from Jalebi Chowk, Sultanpuri, Delhi to reach the Dalit family's dwelling place at.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Dalit community, as a whole, has been subjected to injustice, violence and atrocities not only in BJP-ruled States, but also in the National Capital, as Chief Minister Arvind has no empathy for the poor and the marginalized, particularly the Dalits, and attacks on them are overlooked.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when a Dalit girl was raped and murdered in Delhi, it was Shri Rahul Gandhi, along with him, who rushed to the girl's house to comfort the family and give them financial help, through DPCC, while Chief Minister Arvind was playing political gimmickry. He said that the Congress party had always worked for the welfare and progress of the Dalit people, while the BJP and the AAP have suppressed them.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when the BJP-ruled MCDs and Arvind Government delayed the payment of salaries to the MCD sanitation workers, they sat on dharna on a hot summer day, and when Rahul Ji mjoined the protest, the Arvind Government was forced to release their wages and arrears quickly. He said that the Arvind Government was yet to pay the Rs 1 crore compensation for the Covid Warriors who died in the line of duty to the family members of the sanitation workers who died of Covid.
Besides Ch Anil Kumar and Shri Jai Kishan, prominent Congress leaders participated in a night with a Dalit family were Ex MLA Surender Kumar, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Riaz Khan, Nasim Khan, Mohd. Rashid, Pt. Banwari Lal, Chandan Singh, Ahsan Ali, Bhopal Singh and Chunni Lal.
